The village De Rijp is worth to visit because of many national monuments and a protected cityscape.
De Rijp is a beautiful little village in North-Holland, part of Graft – De Rijp.
De Rijp was a prosperous village from the 17th to the 19th century, after which De Rijp lost direct connection with the former Zuiderzee. This will put an end to the herring fishery and the whaling in De Rijp. The old center of the village has been very well preserved despite a number of large fires in the 17th century. There are still a number of typical Zaanse houses. About 120 national monuments Are in De Rijp.
